Got a quote today for supply and fit a front wheel bearing. £134 including 4 wheel alignment. If it is the cheaper bearing...

Apparently it may be another type of bearing which is £30 (or so) more expensive.

I reckon he was sandbagging in case they knacker the hub getting the old bits out. Or is there really a more expensive bearing?

abearing is a bearing IMO. It takes a bit of time to get the hub off, flange out and to grind the old bearing off though.

The price is a little high to me, I'd be looking at a ton tops as it doesn't take any more than an hour to change the bearing really

Be looking at £89.53 inc VAT here for an SNR.

Does seem a bit steep.

Where all my moneys went.

Price is fitted and includes 4 wheel alignment. (I have changed the thread title to make that clearer).

It could be he was looking at the "more expensive" bearing being an Anni or R32 one on his list. It could be he was sandbagging in case they wreck the hub getting the old one off. The "more expensive" bearing being a hub as well.

Might be a daft question but why are the R32/Anni bearings more to buy?

This is the cheaper kit

and the anni/R kit has a bolt extra (sizes are all the same)

Sizes are the same, but they do have different o.e number's and are stated as not interchangeable

Strange, the bolt is only for the later driveshafts which is the category the R32 and Anni would fall into...

Can you PM me the OEM numbers mate? I'll have a look on ETKA and see if it comes up with any reason, would be nice to know a definite reason for the different parts :afro:

I just got a quote for a wheel baring on my 4Mo from a local garage the other day and they quoted me £100.  Although they were honest and said don't bother replacing it just yet as its only making a very slight noise, checked my car over and made sure nothing was lose and didn't charge me anything!!
