Considering coming back..
« on: 04 July 2014, 17:00 »
So, my circumstance have changed - where I don't actually require a car.

As such reliability is not at the forefront of my mind with me not requiring a car for day to day purposes (I now have a top spec company VW caddy with free personal mileage).

Some of you may remember I left the VW camp a while back and switched over to Mazda for reliability.

I do miss Golfs, I'm not going to lie - I mean the mazda is awesome, better specced, quicker, reliable and more fun - but something about the GTI draws me back.

I've seen a very well specced ED30 for sale and I'm tempted.

What is the ED30 like as a drivers car? Bearing in mind I'll be coming from a 260bhp, 280lb torque mazda MPS with LSD.

The mk5 DSG I had felt a little wallowy compared to the mazda's eibach setup, and quite tame in all honesty.

The specs of the ED30 - £10000

48k miles
NAV
HEATED SEATS
BLACK METALLIC

this is from a VW main dealers.

Opinions please people!

Scratch that. Dealer came back offering 4500 for mazda. Considering they are selling for 7-9K online with less history, more miles and on an older reg - I think I'll pass.

Might consider selling privately and getting a MK7 on finance - or might just wait for the UK mustang to land.

Why not sell yours privately? I'm currently selling my remapped mk5 gti which is a fantastic drivers car and the ed30 is even better and will hit 280- 300bhp with a remap depending on rollers.

I think top gear recently voted the ed30 the second best car of all time unless I am mistaken.
Mk1 Leon Cupra TDI - Keeping
Mk5 Golf GTI - Revo Stage 1 - FOR SALE £5,250
Mk3 GTI 16v Anniversary - OEM+ - Gone :(
Mk4 GTI 2.0 - Slow - Good Riddance

I love my standard GTI with a stage 1+ package... But if I'd of had an ED30 I'd have around 300bhp instead now.

Just sayin'...
