Decat pipe into custom cat
« on: 04 July 2014, 08:34 »
Basically I have one of the decats with the decat section that drops out with flanges at each end.

I am looking to get a custom section made from my old exhaust cat so I can swap it out for mot.

Anybody done this?

Looking at it I think I would need...

Old cat
2 x 3" flanges
2 x 3" to 2.5" reducers
Guy with tape measure to weld it all together

Thoughts? Advice?

Hurdy did something like that with his Mk5 ED30

Might be worth checking out his project page

Surely somebody must have done this?

The amount of people running decats surely not everybody swaps downpipe come mot time if doing legit?

I think most people will probably know a "friendly" MOT tester, or will swap it once a year. As Rhys said, check out Hurdy's thread.

No but you posted up something about a mk5 which is a different car. Looked at the project page of his and mentioned nothing about it.
