Scratch

Just posted this in mk7 thread also. Looking for thoughts please guys.

I had 2 bad scratches on the back of the car where my golf bag scraped the car, wasn't particularly happy with it obviously so spoke with a mate who is a keen detailer. Rather than a deep cut it just looked like a white streak. He took some G3 to it and it came out a treat. However, on the back panel on the drivers side he noticed another mark and attempted to fix it... its now a bl00dy mess.

He promised me he could bring his polishing machine and maybe see if it will buff out if he takes a mil of the paint or something. Ive spoken with Chips away, but they said it'll cost a couple of hundred. Suggestions appreciated.

I'd try and machine polish that out to begin with and see how it looks. You might be left with a white line where it appears that it has gone through the paint tho'.

I repaired a similar mark on a mates black van that had suffered from his daughters bike brake lever. I built up a few layers of brush applied touch up paint over a week, wet sanded it flat, then machine polished it back to as new.

My mates a dab hand at these things, think il get him to have a look at it. Just bothered hel f*ck it up. Sure he wont, but just incase he makes it worse. RGK detailing in Wishaw Glasgow said hed do it for 60 quid which isnt bad and a good reputation. Shame i didnt have a banger to trial it on then i would try do it myself

What a surprise... a mate who "knows what the're doing" lol. That needs wet sand and paint now. Then polish... Get it sorted properly by a professonal person..
