8v cat back on a 16v ?
« on: 02 July 2014, 00:20 »
I'm after an exhaust system for my 16v, but second hand these don't seem to come up very often.  8v ones seem to come up more

I know yiu can't interchange parts, but my understanding is if you replace everything after the cat it's fine ?

Only thing is the 8v systems are designed at 50mm and the 16 at 55mm,  is that 5mm reduction really going to make a difference performance wise ? Or should I just what it out for a proper 16v system

Thanks for any help

Ive never seen any test to see what happens with a 8v exhaust on a 16v or vr6 so cant say if it would make a difference, but why would VW go to the trouble and expense to fit a larger diameter exhaust if it didn't need it

so dont fit it mate and weight for a 16v/vr6 exhaust.

It will build back pressure and you will lose power.

Am I right in thinking the scorpion systems are the same for 8 and 16v models,  both 55mm ?
