R32 handbrake difference
« on: 30 June 2014, 20:53 »
Hi all!

Just fitted an R32 handbrake to my car.

Just wondering if anyone knew if they were made from a different material to the standard leather one?
As I previously had a standard (I assume) GTI leather handbrake fitted which felt much better, the r32 one just feels a bit cheap and plasticky, the leather material on it is also a lot less shiny, I assume it's a genuine r32 one as it has the white stitching and brushed aluminium button.

You can see in the photo the top one (the original one) is darker than the r32 one.

Don't know if it is a different material or whether the r32 one is just a bit worn or something else.

Anyone know?

Cheers

Dale

They should be the same apart from the sliver stitching and brushed knob.

One is obviously showing more wear and tear and/ or been coated in something in the past.

Yeah thought they should've been the same, just the one feels like leather and the other plastic, just didn't think there'd be so much difference.

Yeah as you say the r32 one must just be more worn so it's lost it's finish.

Cheers!

Shiney leather = dirty and/or worn

Here is what the leather handbrake looks like new (I bought a brand new R32 item not long back)
