VW Recall Mk6 DSG7 speed grearbox oil change
« on: 28 June 2014, 22:32 »
Hi all,

I am brand new to this site,

I have a 2009 golf mk6 DSG 7 speed tsi and have been worried about the ripe off price VW was going to charge me for the gearbox oil change as my car has around 34,000 miles on clock and it will be needing done quite soon to be on the safe side.

But I was fortunate to receive a letter from VW this morning saying as part of a regular product monitoring service they need to change the oil in my gearbox from synthetic oil to mineral oil of course free of charge,so i was wondering has any other readers received such a request from VW

Thanks Sean,

It's an official VW recall, of course 10,000s (if not 100,000) DSG owners got that letter.

Just get it changed while it's FOC.....

I have received this!! What is the issue? Why the recall?

Although I guess it's because I have the 6 speed?

Recall affects 7 speed DSG; not the 6 speed; link below to Daily Mail item from November last year gives more info.

How many people actually pay the initial quoted price for service work at the dealers?

I had a quote for a second longlife service, DSG oil change and brake fluid change on my Passat from the local supplying dealer. I left it a day, then rang them back saying that I would book it in if they would match the price that I made up (£140 saving) collect my car and leave me a courtesy car (I wouldn't loose time and money taking it there and collecting it later) After a call to the Service Manager, they said they would do it.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Good price. Brake fluid change is about £50.00 on its own, oil and filter change a further £70.00 all depending on labour local rates. Always keep my eye open for VW offers on their website. Usually have deals that the dealer initially refuses to match or tries not to have heard about!
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.
