MK2 Golf 8v Gti exhaust fit on a 1.6L ?

Hi guys, I'm new to this but I wanted to ask can a Mk2 Gti 8v or 16v exhaust fit on a mk2 1.6? My 1.6 is an 8v I'm just not sure about it. Does any one know if it'll work/fit and have any of you done it? Thanks!
