Anybody have experience or recommend these steering wheels?

Just browsing through Ebay as I fancied a new steering wheel from the standard gti one.

Should I avoid these or can anybody recommend them? I think it looks fairly decent but other people may know better from experience as these are from Bulgaria and have no branding.

I've never replaced a steering wheel is it a fairly simple task? Mine is a 1990 16V so I believe I would need a big boss kit for my car, please corrent me if im wrong!

Doesn't do it for me - second hand Momo wheel would be a much better shout... ie:

I wouldn't put my faith in a cheap steering wheel like that.  As above get a decent secondhand Momo, OMP, Sparco, Personal or Raid. Yes you need a big spline boss (also used on a mk3). Make sure the wheels are straight and remove the original steering wheel.  Slip on the boss, attach the new steering wheel, connect the horn, go for a drive (find out the wheel is off, so need to remove the boss and adjust the positioning*).

*Not always the case but it does happen!

I got an original Wolfsburg racing wheel and boss for my golf for £40 of the bay recently. It looks sh!t hot even if I haven't got the car running since fitting it.

Also when removing the old wheel, don't take the retaining nut off completely at first. Some wheels take a considerable amount of pulling to get off and you could end up with a face full of wheel when it finally lets go. Leaving the nut partly on will stop this happening.

Avoid cheap wheels. Cheap for a reason. They usually bend with little force.
