quick detailing wipes?
« on: 24 June 2014, 12:00 »
So its inters in a next week and ill be popping along for the weekend, but unfortunately/fortunately im off to Chavos tomorrow and wont have time to clean the car again before the big weekend and I cant be arsed taking a load of cleaning stuff and doing it down there, i think there is a jet wash area though... Anyway back the question, is there such thing as quick wipes? I am sure i have seen people with something similar before, i was thinking maybe using a quick detailer spray or the sonax + some proper wet wipes to wipe down after a quick jet wash?

Any ideas?

I haven't found any product that will give a car a quick clean without inflicting some sort of maring, or at best smearing. If I can't wash the car properly, I'd rather leave it alone.

I assume your car is pretty clean to begin with, so seeing as there is a jetwash on site, I would be inclined to use it, use something like Autoglym Rinse Gloss as a drying aid, then all it will need it a pat dry with a towel and the tyres dressed. You'll be done in half and hour tops. Unless you are in the show and shine or concourse, then you'll need to put a bit more effort in.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

no mate not show and shine just displaying for one of the sponsors, dont wanna let the side down. Will keep clean until event and then a decent jet wash should be fine, think i have some aqua wax that you can use on wet paint anyway so going to give that a go

Same here.  Rather leave it dirty until it can be properly washed.  Had to remove some bird cr@p off the bonnet yesterday and even though I soaked it with QD and very gently teased it off with a microfibre, still had some marring afterwards

OP - sounds like you've got it sussed with the jet wash and aqua wax.  Just make sure you bling up the tail pipes and tyres, even if the paintwork isn't perfectly clean, they'll add to the illusion

There's an Arco hand car wash about ten minutes from the show at a tesco iirc, if ya don't mind it then they seemed ok last year? I borrowed their jet wash and just chucked some quick detailer in the boot to finish the job off, but then my car had been detailed prior to this. The other option is that you meet up with someone who can take some stuff for you and do it there. I'm sure there was a prep area last time?

A portable pressure washer is what you need. I've got one in the shed as I don't have easy access to the house for the car.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.
