Just had mine serviced at 9,400 miles.
...
Oil Change 2,000 miles
Inspection 12,000 miles

All looks fine.

Now I have this:
Oil 9,400 miles
Inspection 10,200 miles

So few months ago (i.e. 2000 miles unless you went over) it showed inspection due in 12k miles.... now it tells you it's 10k.

What's so surprising (12k - 2k = 10k after all) ? Inspection was not done as not due, as this has 20k interval in the UK (30k km in metric countries), oil change interval is 9.4k (i.e. 15k km) when not on longlife, so the dealer did only do the oil change.

Yes I agree with the intervals you state. That's not the issue.

my computer now shows 9,400 approx for oil and 10,500 approx for inspection. That to me means in 9,400 miles time I'll have another oil change and then in less than 1,000 miles an inspection. Not even a Ferrari has a service interval that frequent.

I'd expect the inspection in 10k and the oil change stating 20k, not 9k miles. VW Bradford says this is correct and I find it very hard to believe

Got mine booked in for 25th July so we'll see what happens when they reset the service intervals. I'm also getting a complimentary healthcheck carried out apparently

@ Raymondo... your car's coded for fixed time service interval not longlife... with longlife you could get up approx 18k miles for oil change.

Just get oil change and inspection done together next time round and both reset.

PS: You'd be surprised on oil change intervals on Ferraris and other supercars.

If the oil change interval is 15 000 km then my car had its oil changed prematurely at 8 000 km as the car's computer requeste.
The warning message for oil change within 30 days came on as the car was in at the dealer for the suspension strut bearing replacement, so at the dealer they changed the oil for new long life oil, had the oil filter replaced, and  made a "servicing" which apparently only included visual inspection of the brakes..

I don't know what the car's computer says about next service interval now i will have to check..

You're on longlife intervals... with that you can go UP TO 30,000km or 2 years (whichever is sooner).

If you only drive short distance, city traffic etc it will ask you for a service much sooner. Especially since you have actual winters in Stockholm too. 8000km seems a bit short, how many months did it take you do that mileage?

Longlife tbh is only ever really good for high mileage drivers (like myself @ 40k miles / 60000km a year), if you don't drive a lot you're probably better off with 15000km / 1 year intervals for oil change.

PS: Any good spots for camping round Stockholm (going on a Scandinavian road trip in a few weeks, DK, SE, NO, FI)?

Ok I see,
Well the car was built in may 2013, and in traffic since october 2013. Oil was changed in june 2014 after 8 000 km.
so roughly 9 months. I  didn't refill it during this time, although I was planning to because the oil stick showed close to minimum level somewhere around march. But the oil change interval computer beat me to it :)

Yeah well I don't really drive much only 15 000 km / year. Many of my journeys the engine gets warm but the oil temperature doesn't have time to get anywhere near working temperature! I believe this makes the oil absorb moisture, and seldom have a chance to evaporate it. It is a good thing the oil change interval computer compensates for this type of driving!

Camping - I'm sorry but I don't really know.  :undecided:

My GTI is booked in for its first oil change this Friday. It's only done around 9,300 miles which is some way short of 10,000. I'm guessing the sensors in the engine have detected that the engine oil quality is poor hence the early warning.

* While it's in I'm getting the dealer to look at the the squeaky front suspension and loose rear spoiler (mentioned in other threads)

It's a continental round-up. They don't ask for a change at 10k miles, they ask for it at 9400 miles which corresponds with 15000km, when the continentals have their fixed distance interval.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
