R32 engine
« on: 22 June 2014, 16:17 »
Gentlemen

Can you tell me please is the Golf R32 engine an uprated version of the old VR6 engine?
Is the R32 engine really prone to timing chain wear and failure?

Thank you

Yes both it and the V5 can suffer timing chain issues

Is it difficult and expensive to replace?

If the engines timing chain / chains are worn, will it be shown up by rattles or chain slap noises?
What I am really asking is how do you know if the chains are badly worn?

Thanks
