LHD and RHD wiper rack for a mk2 golf
« on: 22 June 2014, 11:09 »
Hey guys.

Im a bit confused im looking to buy a new wiper rack for my mk2 but my mk2 is an 84 and has the wipers on the side that a LHD would have them.

So does this mean i need a rack for a LHD? Or can u use parts from a RHD To fix my rack?

All that has happened is the spline for the passenger side wiper has been rounded off and so has the thred for the nut, is there anyway to fix this?

Cheers connor

I think you can get some of the individual parts from vwheritage/classic parts.

The spline size changes with later cars. There is a complete LHD set on ebay at the moment but I would guess it's the later spline size.

Before you change the rack, usually the splines get soft aluminium debris from the wiper arm stuck in the grooves! carefully use a stanley knife blade to chase out all the debris from each groove, then fit a new wiper arm... you can heat the new wiper arm prior to re fixing to the spindle, to ensure a tighter fit, but getting the nut on tight before it cools may be a little tricky, so have all you kit at hand
