Coilover question. Don't be mad if it sounds dumb.

So, basically one of the things my MOT failed on today was because of "nearside rear coil spring broken"

Was thinking this is a perfect opportunity to get a coilover kit which should fix this (I think?).

Anyway. My question is if I got a basic cheap ebay kit for £160ish... would I need anything else for installation or replace any parts while I am there etc?

I only want to go lower, not super crazy low.

Also second question is it just a case of wheels off and adjust for required height? is it easy?

Coilovers will sort the MOT failure because you'll get new rear springs with them.

The only thing you need to bear in mind is that if you go much lower than about 50mm you'll have the driveshaft rubbing on the antiroll bar.

Also it's a good idea to replace top mounts at the same time as fitting the coilovers.

Adjusting is just as you say, very easy to do.

is the rubbing on the antiroll bar an mot falilure, because mine does this on the righthand wheel when on full lock,but passed the mot last year without even any advisories. but just got me thinking because i will have to have it motd somewhere else this year and wonder if they will pick up on it ?

Does the rubbing happen as rubbing or can it smash against it i.e. if there is a gap but you go over a speed bump can it bring them closer to bang?

no it a rubbing sound and sensation when you turn your steering -think im right in sayin it occurs on the right hand wheel and arb.
