Checking thr CV joints are easy.
Turn the steering wheel as much left as you can, then drive slowly forward, and backwards. Repeat the thing by doing it like before but this time turn your steering wheel right (and do the same thing. forward/backwards). You should hear a large knocking if they are bad.
Thats the absolutly easiet way to check if something is wrong.
It could also be the splines that are worn, but that would not make a "clicking" sound. But one thinkg i leaned about cars, is that nothing is logical
