glass scratch
« on: 07 June 2014, 10:56 »
Not very deep but right in my eye line caused no doubt by grit in my wipers, any non-machine (don't trust myself) way of getting them off?

It will be possible, but I would use a proper glass polish (I saw some in halfrauds the other day). And plenty of elbow grease.

Prep the screen like the detailing guys prep before polishing, or you will make it worse by dragging grit around with the polish.

In the meantime, try Rain-X. It seems to fill small imperfections and tidies up a tired windscreen. The only pain is having to reapply it every few weeks (depending on the weather it will last longer in the summer).

Tried autoglym glass polish to no avail but I think I have some rain x in the garage that you add to the washer jets, this the same sort of stuff?

I tried the stuff you put in the washer bottle and it left messy marks all over my scuttle. However, it does apply it to the screen OK. (I got confused with the instructions and it seemed to tell me to add 500 ml to 1 l of water. So I chucked the whole lot in the washer bottle which was full of premixed stuff).

If the stuff you have works, you could get the proper stuff. About £5 a bottle I think.

Glass polish should work. Maybe it needed more elbow grease?
