The dash will be well out by now, 2 days and no news yet

I'm so sad that I never leave anything in my cars so there is nothing at all to rattle other than the car itself. I thought it was the actuator and I'm hoping it's that which is being replaced and the dash won't actually be coming out.

With regard to the ECU update, I've not driven the car since it had this so I've no idea what /if any difference it will make. I had no problems with the handbrake or anything before it had the update.

Fingers crossed it will be ok and in the meantime I'm getting used to thrashing an Up! which doesn't use any fuel but must have the heaviest flywheel this side of an ocean liner. Rev it to 6k and it takes an age for the revs to drop. Bloody terrifying when pullying out into traffic or trying to overtake with just 60bhp

Well it's a known fault surprised your dealer doesn't know , I would have passed my info to the dealer , and they if
necessary could have asked Crewe VW about it , and if was it was if not no harm done ,must have heard of 10 or so
I just hope the dash re refits rattle free

Collected it from the dealer this afternoon, all perfect not a mark anywhere, everything working, settings all as I left it including radio, driver mode etc. Turned out it was the air con pipes vibrating against the body.

ACC seems a lot more eager now.

Glad to hear yours has been sorted, I've had a rattle appear on my GTI the last couple of days. Seems to happen on the ride home from work if its been a hot day. Haven't had any rattles in 7months of owing the car but for two days of last week I got into it after work and immediately there was a rattle, at about 1500-2000revs, coming from the dash just inside the speedo/rev counter. As its only happened twice I'm unsure if I want to take it in.

Hi,

I have had a similar rattle coming from the dashboard area on my GTI when it’s been sat outside on a warm day, as mentioned it’s at about 1500revs and beyond. I wasn’t too sure if it’s a seal or something which expands on warm days and then starts to rattle?

I am not going to bother sending it in as is intermittent and weather dependant.

Cheers,
Phil

so this sounds like a fairly common issue, does anyone know if VW will acknowledge it if I take my car in? as I mentioned above its only happening after a hot day so as I live in the UK it wont be a problem most days
