Parking sensors
« on: 05 June 2014, 18:13 »
Reversed off the drive this morning and halfway off instead of the beeping, I now get a high pitched noise and the button near the gearstick flashes, think I have a fault. Anyone experienced this before?

Sensor has failed

A scan with VCDS or dealer tool should identify which one is playing up

Same thing happened to mine. Stealers couldn't tell me if it was a sensor or control unit fault. Wanted another £200 odd to investigate further. I told them to jog on. Just living without them ATM!

If you have VCDS you could remove the bumper and move the sensors about

If the fault moves then you know its a sensor

Cheers chaps, have contacted a local independent who can diagnose for around 30 quid, then will decide what to do next. Anyone know how much a new sensor is bearing in mind they are colour coded?

My dads mk4 Bora did this, if you place your ear over the sensors you can hear them clicking (i.e. ear touching the sensor with the sensor in you ear hole), obviously ignition on in reverse. I scanned with VCDS and it never shown a fault. Using this method we identified one that didn't click, bought a new sensor somewhere in the region of £90 replaced it and fault went away (they were black luckily).

update - so had indie tech in MK look into the fault this morning, and its not a sensor that has failed . It turns out that the fault code is described as "front parking aid warning chime H22". He advised that the part is only £13 which sounds great, however, he has no idea where it is located in the car (could be in the roof or behind the dashboard). any advice welcome .

Wife's advice was why bother of course, but I like everything to work as it should.

Finally, whilst in he said the battery was almost flat, which I find strange as I had not noticed any issues, anyone experience anything similar?

Thanks

Have you Googled Golf Front Parking Aid Warning Chime (H22) location?

Removing and installing front parking aid warning buzzer -H22-

Adjusting volume of front parking aid warning buzzer -H22-

Workshop Manual Golf, Jetta 2007>
Believe it or not, no I didn't think to google it :lipsrsealed:

Thanks so much, looks really easy.

Will update once done.
