Quick question about oil and time belts (or camshafts)

Changed the oil today as i do every ~6213 miles on my ABF.
And i for some reason forgot the Oil filling funnel. And well the oil kinda came where it wasn't supposed to be really. Most of it went sideways at the valve cover, but some went downhill, over the cover for the time belt.
Question is (tried google but well seems like am the only one ). How bad can this be for the time belt? It's not like am doing it every day.
Heard horror storys about "rubber and oil".

Asked a friend on facebook, he was like "it's no big deal, it can take it" i said "puh!" and then he went "on your ABF?" i said "yes" and i have not heard from him

As it new oil and only a little and probably didnt touch the belt I wouldn't worry. As soon as you rev it the oil will fly off.

If new engine oil kanckered rubber we would all be leaking it all over the place from rubber seals and O rings.

Don't worry about it, it's not a problem.

Great yea it not like its hidden in a "clinically clean environment" or how you say it in english

Apparently it was soaked in oil the mechanic at the workshop said when i asked them to check. Kinda bad consider i had it changed last year (end of April) and 1200 miles 

He said he would clean it off and have to engine run on idle to see from where it was leaking - and take it from there.

The good news is that they fixed my AC that hasn't been working since 2009 (at least, according to previous owner). A new expansion valve and a seal then it was ready to go as it was Mars 1996. (and ofcourse a new dryer)

Yes. I woud'nt get it back from the workshop. They'll clean it upp, have it run on idle to see from were it's leaking (and ofcourse change the belt once they find were its leaking from and fix that aswell).

Thing is though, its only his word "it's soaked" i havn't seen it myself. Stupid of me, my mistake but i was in a bit of a hurry today when i visit them.

It's unlikely the timing belt is 'soaked' after an external spillage. Crank or camshaft seals would though. Next time pour the oil sideways from the bottle and it wont come out as lively. It's like pouring milk in your tea.

No clue tbh, i havn't seen it. All i can trust is the workshops word, and they are just after my money. However if i ignore them and it snaps, well... seems cheaper to trust them after all.

I know i made a mistake pouring the oil from the 4 L bottle. To create a nice flow you can punch a hole in the bottle letting air in.

And am a "Swede" we drink black coffe only However Tea is oki aswell, but no milk in it then

Went to the workshop today to check up on things. And discuss about the time belt thingy. He said that i could go out and have a look since the cover was off. So i did. Am no mechanic, but this seems far from "soaked" as he told me.

Keep in mind, i poured some oil over the cover by mistake....
