That 9k oak greener lies in his ad.

He says "Completely original". However I don't believe that "CD player with iPod connectivity" is original.

I smell a rat. Would not buy off such a dishonest person!
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

That car has had quite a bit of work so where do you draw the line at original. If your asking that sort of the money then the prospective buyers are going to be very picky. Sometimes you think your are being honest then someone comes along and makes you realise you don't know your Mk2s as well as you thought !  What would people be prepared to pay?

If i compare it against my car I would be prepared to pay 4k for that car but no more than that

....."Mr Russell used the car sparingly, using it to drive to bowls in the summer and also for short trips to the tip with a small trailer for his garden rubbish – hence the (expensive) Witter tow-bar.  Again, perfectly period"

Why the f**k did he buy a GTI!?

Some fool will buy it.

I folks I'm new, about ten minutes new, I'm surprised by the prices (high) and the availability of Mk2 cars.

Does anybody know how many are left?

What is a realistic value for a clean MK2 8v, 80k miles? My insurer asked and I was clueless.

Thanks

Ooooops sorry just read "What is it Worth" thread.  Forget my question above re value, I don't care too much really, I bought it new and don't intend to part with it.  How many are left in the UK?

Not many single owner examples left! That's for sure. Give it a few more years and it will be worth a fair bit. Mk2s are only just starting to appreciate (in the scheme of 28? Years). Don't know how many are left. More than you think though.
