Rain sensor
« on: 02 June 2014, 21:59 »
I've had to replace the windscreen after cracking and now the sensors aren't sensitive enough. Does anyone know how to re-calibrate the rain sensors through VCDS. Thanks in anticipation ?

Can't you adjust the sensitivity through the Car > Wipers menu on the computer?

This is very worrying, i'm having my windscreen replaced on saturday, was the sensor bonded to the screen or just clipped in? They had to cut one off my mk5 windscreen years ago which completely knackered it meaning it had to be replaced.

I'm not sure how they did it as I was not present. It does work, along with the dipped mirror sensor but not sensitive enough.

Hi Tornado8.
Can you say what brand of windscreen was fitted and which organisation fitted it?

Silly question but are the sensors completely unshrouded? I had a screen replaced on previous car & there was a gasket btw the sensor module and the screen. When the guy refitted the sensor, the gasket rotated and partially shrouded the sensors. I showed him what he'd done and it was a bit of a revelation to him! There should be no need to re calibrate anything if the screen is like for like & the sensor is repositioned correctly with all the eyes unshrouded. Any probs & they should return & fix for you.

Thanks for the questions .Auto windscreens fitted it. The screen is standard. The sensors are uncovered. In the manual it says after replacement that the they need re-calibrating.

Tornado8 - did you get this sorted?

I am having a new windscreen fitted on Sat and worried they might mess up the sensors?

Sorry for late reply have just come back from hols. The windscreen people(National) are coming back on Monday to look at it. I have been told that the gel pack wasn't replaced. So I expect them to do it. I hope yours has been done OK
