If you take the pads out you'll pop the piston the first time you press the brakes leaving you in a worse situation. Have you got any molegrips in the car? You could put them on the flexi to render the caliper inoperable then limp it home. Or get a mate to bring you some bolts..

I was thinking to crimp the pipes and remove the calliper all together but it Is so risky but dom is right they don't do a lot but like people say just get a mate to bring some bolts up or pay to get toed home good luck mate

Out of the many ways you might have a big disaster by driving this car home, I think the loose caliper getting jammed between the wheel and disk/suspension is most likely. This will lock the rear wheel and probably cause a spin out.

If you luck is really bad the wheel will break up and possibly cause a roll over.

If you don't have £100 for AA membership (and yes, they will recover you straight away) then call your Mum, best mate, partner whatever and get a loan from them.

Cheers for all the replies, and yeah, a bodge job was out of the question really. I've managed to use a family members breakdown service, so hopefully they'll fix it on the spot, and failing that, I'll have one hell of a journey back home to Essex...

Is the right answer. Well done and thanks from me actually.

If they fix it on the spot I would like to know how. Having the right spec bolts in the right size in the back of the van..?

I reckon it will be the long journey so get him to stop off on the way for a bottle of wine or a pack of beer (or whatever) for when you get home...

Haha, will do, and I told them over the phone what I need to fix the car, as it is only a 10 minute fix, so it would save them a lot of time and money to just to fix it on the spot. Only time can tell now.

Oh dear haha, Does anyone know what size bolt it is that I'll be needing btw? It connects the carrier to the frame of the brake
