Mine will sometimes, just turn a couple times more than necessary occasionally but its very rare. It likes to be used everyday and doesn't like not being used.

Yup, mine does this every time, the battery is super weak, never been changed since manufacture date,

will be buying a nice new varta silver heavy duty battery that I have in the mk5, they are cheap and amazing, you can sit in the car for 2 hours with music without a single delay in starting when you turn the key,
cheaper than Bosch, same warranty, more CCA and amps can't go wrong!
MK6 GTi - Black - DSG - 18' Monza shadow - Luxury Pack - Convenience pack - Park assist - Xenons - RNS510 - Adaptive chassis control - Dynaudio - Bluetooth - Reverse camera - front/rear sensors --mods-- Evoms Intake - Eurojet/stasis Turboback Catless 3" exhaust

^ I have this one, have to make sure it fits the mk6, but it's the most powerful battery I could find at the time for my mk5 (6 months ago)

My (10 reg) GTD battery first started showing signs of age by giving me an occasional 'ESP FAULT' on the display when key turned in ignition.... Very occasionally though and even after a long run. VW looked into it at service time and said no faults found but it would still throw it up. 6 weeks of inactivity and the battery finally died last November. New one installed - Can't remember name but was a Vauxhall/SEAT main dealers standard GTD replacement and was much higher capacity than the one that was originally used and filled the entire battery tray rather than the 3/4 size original - No more ESP FAULT or sluggish starting though.
I wonder if VW use the bare minimum capacity battery depending on original spec?
Mk VI Black Pearl GTD.... No Frills, replaced a Black Pearl PD150 Bora, which in turn replaced a Dragon Green VR6 which followed a Dusty Mauve MK III 8v Gti.
