Have you checked the tracking / tyre pressures??

If they are ok then remove airbag and see if the two punch marks line up

I found the airbag a pain in the ass to remove! if you feel the back of your steering wheel you'll find 2 holes at around the 10 and 2 o clock, you have to put a screwdriver in each and lever the catches outwards, there's videos on youtube of how to do it. I dissconected my battery and left it for about half an hour too, I get a little paranoid about airbags.

the steering wheel should be centered when doing the wheel alignment. you shouldn't really go moving the wheel it can confuse the steering angle sensor. one or two notches on the spline is usually okay but i'd recommend you get the wheel alignment checked at a decent place and not by the kwikfit or ats monkeys.
