Had my cambelt, tensioner, water pump, auxiliary belt, spark plugs and coolant done last week. It drove exactly the same. :)

It's not a performance job per se, it's more of a maintenance job.. getting the cambelt and water pump done before the belt snaps saves you repairing the entire engine if it does go.

A hotter cam should liberate a bit more power? I dunno 130-140?

I think the standard one's pretty conservative.

Beyond that the 'just buy a 1.8t' argument is a strong one though. :)

£150?

I just priced up cheapest crappiest parts from Euros and it comes to £70 without coolant or oil.

Working for £70. I guess could whack it out in two or three hours but wow that's cheap.

Definitely going to have had a crappy metal water pump fitted though!

Sorry to bring ya down a bit but is a cheap job!

Where all my moneys went.
