How far can you go once your fuel light is on?

Just need to know once your yellow fuel light comes on how many miles roughly would you be able to do?

Should state this in the original manual that came with the car when new. Failing that I can check mine although that's no good as I'm in a 1.8t but I got 40 careful miles on red if that helps at all!

I think the light comes on with 5l (or 1 gallon) left.

So, 17 to 45 miles depending on how you are driving it.

Your question really is like 'how long is a piece of string?'

In theory you should have approx 7 litres left so enough for about 5 miles given that you have a 2.0 and they are generally crap MPG wise

get a 1.4 -you will get more miles out of it and power aint much different .you could even stick your gti badge in its
grill

I always work on about 20 miles from when the light comes on  never tested it through to seeing how many you can get though, Id rather not pull any cr@p from the tank through

Exactly the number of miles it takes for the car to hicup and then spit you out by the road side.

i managed around 30 before I ran out ( was going to Tesco petrol station, got there and found out it was only the shop that's 24hrs not the petrol station )

just stick a tenners worth of fuel on a credit card or Wonga some money for one day will cost your like a quid interest...
