Depends if you want height adjustability ?

I got springs once, annoyed me as I wanted it slightly lower and the car was still bouncy as sh!t. Had coilovers ever since on every car

I've had the real cheap ones, expensive ones and some on the middle

Joms are ok but pretty bouncy,  upside is they are very cheap

Fk a little more expensive,  miles better quality,  better ride even slammed on its ass it was perfectly driveable. They also didn't corrode at all in 2 years

AP little more expensive again, these had camber and damping adjustment.  They were perfect, could have it on its ass and still be really comfy.  Although these are out of your price range,  look for second hand ones that's what I did :)

Had a mk4 with kw coilovers on and they were not worth the price difference compared to AP.

I wouldn't get springs,  it'll annoy you withing weeks,  you'll either want it a little lower or a little firmer etc

As said before. You will need to change your top mounts every 2-3 years. I would buy lemforder top mounts as i have noew fitted febi again after 3-4 years of fitting my jom coilovers. Also for your budget i would stick with joms all day as they are pretty decent for the budget you have

Regarding top mounts get Vw ones £50 for the pair worth the extra £40 to aftermarket ones in my opinion

In reply to sharky,  for under £200 I'd get the fk streets over Jom.  Only £30 difference and they are much nicer, go lower and have better ride quality

Ill be buying some cheap coilovers...probably FK or ProSport (possibly Apex), but all this talk about the ride being too bouncy or too hard etc, why not just put a set of lower poundage springs in? They are readily available and cheap at around £15 per corner!

Remember to cut the bump stops in half before fitting them. If your going low you'll need to do it,  makes life easier to just do it in the first place than piss around afterwards
