Coolant light goes straight to red

So I get in the car just about to pop over to wednesbury ikea and the coolant light comes on chiming away straight at red with the exclamation mark in the red triangle.

I checked the levels after 4000 miles and both oil and coolant was fine. Now at 7000 both seem low. I have called vw assistance and asked for someone to come out. I turned the engine off then turned it back on lights gone but the coolant is extremely low. My problem is that there was no amber warning staring to red.

Now I don't want to risk it by driving over to vw to buy some coolant. I have vw coming out in the next hour back inside we go mrs is annoyed (28k car and no warning wtf) and the little one too.

Anyone else had these issues.

Had to top mine up a couple of weeks ago, i think it was a little low from day one tbh, sometimes it'll rise a bit if you take the cap off the expansion bottle.

If you got the servicing pack I think they top up levels for free

No leaks thankfully all other fluids are fine.

He topped up the coolant for me.

Jumped in the car this morning as usual, ignition on...b*stard. one of what always appears like another frickin issue. Coolant issue. To be fair i have done circa 10k miles, need to pop in to a halfords or something later. grrrrr

My warning light came on and level was quite a bit below low.

Called in to my local dealer and they topped it up but advised that I should get it checked out in case there was a leak. Took in today and they said there is a very slight water pump leak. New water pump will be fitted under warranty.

Damn not good. I called the breakdown guy and he topped it up as it was a Sunday afternoon. Tbh I haven't checked it since but will do at some point before the weekend.

I had the same with my Scirocco back in 2010 when it had just under 7K miles on the clock. Again a water pump was replaced under warranty.
