Ok so in a road car you use daily is there a fluid you could use thats better than standard but has the same validity
I'd just stick with the OE fluid changed once a year, the stuff that the dealer puts in a Golf is exactly the same as the stuff that goes into a Ceramic braked Audi R8, done via the dealer for £59 with a proper ABS pump purge done via VCDS it's one of the only bargain jobs done via a main dealer imo

The only correct way to do a full fluid change on the mk5/6 is to use VCDS or dealer VAS to cycle the ABS pump to remove all of the old fluid and to prevent the introduction of air

All of what Beddie has said is correct. I always take mine to VW for brake fluid change.

The OEM stuff is great unless you are doing a lot of track day where your brakes it be getting super hot.

Beddie - do you use 5.1 as you track a lot?

Lool, I was merely agreeing with him, like nodding my head in conversation, not that you we're wrong

In my old ed30 I always ran Motul RBF600 which is a DOT4 fluid, reasonably cheap and has a dry/wet boiling point higher than quite a few DOT 5.1 fluids, probably had 3 full fluid changes using that and couldn't fault it tbh, since though I have always ran OE fluid changed by the dealer and stuck to once a year or after every 2 track days and it's been spot on tbh
For the cost of RBF600 alone I can have the OE fluid supplied fitted and bled and fresh fluid seems to make the most difference in feel terms imo
