Boot doesn't unlock with Fob double tap

Hi There,

I have a 04 2.0 TDI and I'm having issues with the boot unlocking.
If I double tap the unlock button on the key, the boot doesn't unlock anymore. But if I hold down the boot release button on the key it unlocks.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is causing the issue and a potential fix?

Yeah tried replacing the battery, but it makes no difference.
