Do your windows drop overnight?
« on: 23 May 2014, 09:15 »
Hi,

Is this a known issue and if so is there a known fix please?

3 door - Electric windows appear to be dropping a couple of inches when the car is remote locked (e.g lock it overnight and return in the morning to find the windows have dropped).  It has happened 2 times in a fortnight.

The most recent like example was this morning when on approaching and once pressing the unlock key fob button, the windows inexplicably dropped (I know how to open and close the windows via the fob too btw).

To date the only suggestion offered by the dealership is to be more careful not to touch the remote key fob buttons!

And would you believe, as I type, the locked car alarm has just inexplicably activated!!!

Please/ thanks.

Had that with an 11 plate GT140, i put it down to the fob. I never could replicate it. Did it twice in the time i owned it.

http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/topic/135853-vw-golf-windows-opening-themselves/  Tried it and it did it! hope this helps. Kindae confirms what happened to me with the fob.

You probably know this already but you can disable the window opening/closing key fob operation via the mfd.  In convenience menu, select Windows then select Off.    This stops them dropping/closing when you hold down unlock/lock button on key fob.  I found I was inadvertently doing this a lot and often returning to the car to find the windows open a couple of inches.  I just disabled it.

Didn't know that Booth, thanks for all replies.

Car at garage again for their consideration of host of ongoing problems with this car.
