New wash media
« on: 21 May 2014, 20:28 »
Hi all,

Can anyone recommend me a good wash media. I have a dodo juice trebble mitt and it seems ok but was just wondering what people are using.

Obviously I would like it as scratch and swirl inducing free as possible but easy maintance aswell.

I use either the DJ Tribble mitt, or DJ Supernatural wash mitt (aka Wookie's fist / Yet's Fist).  The latter are long haired, deep pile mitts.  They suck up a lot of water, so can get quite heavy but give great results.

Provided you're using a proper wool wash mitt, then minimising swirls and scratches is more down to a good washing and rinsing technique rather than the mitt itself, i.e, 2 bucket method, preferably with grit guards, washing from top down, lower panels last, regular rinsing of the mitt.  Wheels done first and using separate bucket and dedicated wheel mitt or brush.

Yeah me too, but this new mitt I'm testing is pretty mint.

I reckon I'll be able to tell you the name of the brand soon.

Wash in straight lines too, not round and round. Also don't be tempted to rub a bit harder to try and shift a tar spot or some welded on cow shit. Deal with that later with an appropriate product.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Cheers guys, looks like I might be better sticking with the trebble.

I have just seen lots of noodle mitts and new microfibre stuff out on the market so thought I would see if there is anything better.

Tribble is a very good mitt.  Dooka wash pad is also a great alternative to a mitt and will outlast one.  Occasionally I use a small natural sponge as well (only during the summer) - really nice to wash a car with and you get into all the edges.  As above grit guards are a must.

I'm using this, it's ace holds loads of fluid and suds up well. Also use Megs microfibre mitt for lower parts of the car.
