Polo 1.6 16v gti vs golf gti 1.8t aum?

Witch do you think would be quicker guys? I've heard the polo's are pretty quick?

Had both , 1.8t golf , also on a side note the gearbox on a polo is made of cheese, 1.8cheap to mod , polo once you done exhaust/cams/filter that's it unless ur fitting a 1.8t ,

The polo will be slightly quicker over short distances/off the lights/corners, the Golf will have a higher top speed and leave it behind on a long straight, DC or motorway.
The 150bhp GTI is a bit of a lardy bum and takes a while to get going, the handling is also a bit wishy washy as standard.

Cheers lads, my mate has just bought a polo and thinks it'll be quicker than my golf, I've got cat back exhaust, forge fmd008, s2000 filter and his is standard with coilovers, gonna have a play tonight so I'll let you guys know, cheers for the info

Without a remap I wouldn't be surprised if he has you tbh.

Because a 1.8T without a map is pretty poor, the polo is considerably lighter and I bet on paper the 0-60 times are pretty similar. If I could be bothered I'd work out the power/weight ratio of each car but I really cba
