Colour change advice
« on: 16 May 2014, 15:14 »
Little bit stumped regarding colour changes  :undecided:

I've heard/read that if I were to change the colour of my car (either by respray or vinyl wrap) I'd have to notify the DVLA, is there any truth to this?

Also, does anyone know of any decent bodyshops? (preferably in the North East)

I don't think you do if you wrap it because it's classed as a temporary colour change.

Yeah resprays would need stating. If rather do that tbh than have it wrapped and get a stone chip that can't be fixed easily.

Replacing  one section of damaged wrap has got to be cheaper and easier than getting thd same panel resprayed though.

True. But knowing my luck it would be a panel that stretched front to back and was a right pain to do.

having never seen a good wrap (and iv seen a lot and ones that have had plenty spent on them) id go with a spray job

contact unit 16 in aycliffe near darlington, there real good and good prices.

and yes you do have to notify dvla, even if its wraped I believe you do, as there records wownt match the colour of your car.

The laws regarding wraps have recently changed, you do now have to declare a wrap to both your insurance company and the dvla.
