Am I doing this right?
« on: 16 May 2014, 08:35 »
I have front and rear fk coil overs (bought it with them installed) and I'm getting pretty sick of the low rear end ride height.
The front sits at 25-25.5" from the floor (from arch to floor) and the rear sits 24" off the floor. I have had a look at adjusting both the front and back to make them level / as high as possible, but on closer inspection it looks like the rear is already maxed out, which led me to make this topic, as I am sure that the kit that is meant to be on the car is a 30mm to 100 mm lowering kit.

Thanks, Mo

you want them wound up higher if you want the car higher!!!

you got them as low as they will go!!!!!

Ffs haha, I've read so many different things about this now.
I've read that If I raised it up, it would compress the spring, which in turn would make the car sit lower, then I've also read that in order to raise it, the spring needs to be fully uncompressed (what it's currently at) I did think that the other way was more logical though.

Wind them up to raise the car, down to lower it.

Also i would copper grease the f out of them and the nut that you turn (threaded part on inside) so in future you dont have issues undoing them

I've wound them both up, and the car is definitely higher now haha, does anyone know if it would be the opposite for the front? Or is it the same principle? (wind up - compress the spring / also raises it) (wind down to uncompress the spring / make it lower)

And yeah, I could do with copper greasing the coil, but I don't have any (it wasn't much of a problem anyway though)

Man, you are a lost soul. Don't grease the coils, grease the threads! So you can undo the locknut and turn the adjuster next time.

Yes, same for the front. You want to raise the bottom of the spring away from the floor.

Woops, I meant the thread (I mean what would greasing the actual coil do...) , I just couldn't think of the word when I was typing haha. I'm having a bit of an off day today.
