The first manoeuvre was fine IMO, the second one was highly dangerous as you can clearly see the oncoming vehicle and he's overtaking on a bend.  He's a dick, and yes I would report him to the police - not only will he cause an accident driving like that but he's giving us TR GTI drivers a bad name!

I don't think there was much wrong with either overtake. We are viewing the second overtake from much further back, so it's us that can't see around the bend, not the GTD driver. He's obviously got sufficient momentum to be able to overtake the second car, spending the minimum amount of time on the wrong side of the road and getting back in with still plenty of room before the oncoming car. If anything, I would say that he was probably traveling at speeds above the limit, but neither manoeuvre caused any of the other vehicles to deviate from their chosen course.

I used to get worked up by other drivers actions, but now I'm just happy to let them go. He overtook you and was gone. What's the problem? The further he gets away from you, the further he will be away IF he has an accident. Only then will you be impeded a little bit by having to slow and drive around the carnage.

I didn't think there was anything wrong with the second manoeuvre.
Its not as if the second he came in, the oncoming car passed.
I wouldn't be driving like that but I don't think it would put me into any alarm / road rage

I've done several driving courses in my time and one of them was specifically regarding overtaking.  A lot of 'ready position, strike position' kind of stuff.

At the end of the day the final advice was 'as long as at the end of the manoeuvre you're in front and everyone is alive it is a successful overtake.  Everything else is immaterial'

It is hard to call from the distance, but the fact that he overtook at high speed next to a '40mph bends' sign, and the oncoming range rover flashed his headlights, and the testimony of our good forum member... Looks pretty dangerous to me. If he had encountered himself coming the over way, would he (/she) run out of room?

Not worth it! There's always another straight, there's only one of us.

Thanks for the footage. It looks like he/she could be speeding, and the second manoeuvre was certainly more risky than I'd be comfortable with and they should not have done it.

Apart from that, they don't appear to have done anything illegal unless you have other information?

The Police won't be interested at all as the footage isn't admissible and no laws appear to have been broken.

The key thing here is that I don't believe it's right to publish the number plate for perpetuity on the internet even if you think the driver of this car is a 'dick' - what if it's not the driver's car? What if they sell it?

Personally I would remove the pic and move on.

I see what you're saying. However I wonder if the driver would have made those manouvres if either of those cars was a police car?
