BBS rm reps
« on: 15 May 2014, 14:34 »
I am planning getting a set of bbs reps probably from lenso for my soon to be restored mk2 big bumper 16v gti. These are available in many different sizes and offsets for the mk2. I also will be lowering the car prob on bilstein shocks and eibach springs.
My question is which wheel size, offset and suspension drop would give the optimum look without cutting arches and affecting the ride too much, Thanks.

I think the lack of replies to this post are down to the mention of Lensos.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Well I would go for genuine bbs wheels if I could find them! I'm not a fan of second hand wheels and can't get new ones.

I would much rather drive around on second hand high quality bbs rather than new sub standard quality reps. But that's just me. There is a reason second hand genuine bbs can still be more expensive than brand new reps, minus scene tax it's because your paying for better materials and finish.

Ok I'm gonna go for genuine  BBS rm's. If I lower the car will I have to stick to the standard outer lips or could I go slightly wider as I prefer the look but don't really want to be cutting/rolling arches.

That depends on how low you go and the width plus offset of the wheels you put on. I might be rolling my arches slightly to accommodate new wheels but I will be doing it with a phone book and heat gun.

Everyone should have a set and actually drive with them on all year round. I saw a speck of dust fall on an owners wheels at a show it was handbags and 10 paces.  :lipsrsealed:

Thanks for the replies, ok with the bbs rm wheels which are 6.5 x 15 et 33 how much can the car be dropped without having to carry out arch mods?
Also could I go for a slightly wider outer rim on say a 40mm drop without mods to arches? Thanks.
