Electronic Brake - Car Recall
« on: 14 May 2014, 14:56 »
I just had VW Chester on the phone saying that my car needs to have a software update for the Electronic Brake, the car was delivered in July, the person on the phone stated she has another 15 people to call today, watch out for the call. I can't see a recall status on the website for my car:

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/recallsSubmit

Maybe they just enjoy classing everything as a 'recall'

Funny how when VW issue a recall it goes un noticed by the media. However, when Toyota issues a recall all hell breaks loose! Same for other German manufacturers...

Nothing for mine. Considering i've already had a warranty fix on my electronic handbrake after failure, mine has probably been dealt with.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Picked mine up in Nov and the website says no recall for my car.  I question the reliability of the website - CraigW - yours was one of the first - unless they have done the upgrade at one of your other visits back to the garage...

I'm not aware of any upgrade pal but it's been in and out of the dealer a number of times so anything is possible

Maybe the update isn't considered critical enough a safety risk to warrant a proper recall. In that case, they'll just do all kinds of updates to the car without telling you anything - next time they see it for a service or warranty work.
