rocker cover gasget
« on: 09 May 2014, 23:21 »
I have read a bit on what I have found wrong and I think it is the rocker cover gasket or the head gasket
I am a bit concerned at the intensity of the work and knowledge this requires?
what would it cost me to have it done professionally?
I still am not sure this is going to solve my power loss problem!
any one have any ideas?

Rocker cover gasket is only going to stop oil leaks, if there is one.

What car is it?

Rocker cover gasket isn't going to cause loss of power. Head gasket is a different story. What car?

Oil gets in plug holes from leaky rocker gasket and fries the leads giving a bad spark especially when the engine is hot. The lead will soon crumble and fall apart
the plugs will eventually fail and may even crack.
Sort this first before even thinking head.

It's an hour or so to do the gasket and about 15 quid.
if the leads are goosed then your talking 50 quid.
Its not difficult if you have a socket set.

Head work could be hundreds
