Vibration in manual 4th gear

It's not a good vibration either :-)

When I accelerate in 4th, from about 30-40 mph the gear lever vibrates visibily. I would almost call it wobbling, it's that bad.

I reported it to dealer a few months back and they said that they agreed it happened, and that it occurred in other Mk7 Golfs.
Said it would be reported to VWUK and if it is more widespread they would look into it.

Has anyone else seen or reported this?

I have just had the syncromesh for second gear replaced and am generally unimpressed by the quality of the gearbox particularly when cold but not finding any vibration in 4th. The garage have basically told me not to expect too much as the gearbox as has to be fairly agricultural to cope with the torque.

Does this happen at similar revs/loads in other gears e.g. 35-45 in 5th? It doesn't sound normal, I have to say, but it could be a gearbox issue, clutch or even flywheel related.

I don't have a GTI but my GTD pulls quite happily from those speeds in 4th with no unusual vibration...

Have had my car a week and have noticed the same issue and it is really starting to bug me. Thing is it is intermittent- it doesn't always do it, as I am running the car in I haven't really extended it above 4000rpm, but it is definitely vibrating more than it should mainly from about 2500rpm and getting progressively worse. I think it is especially more noticeable due to the rest of the gears being totally vibration free. What I have found odd which I noticed when trying to replicate the vibration in other gears is that if I change from 6th or 2nd to 4th it doesn't vibrate. However any changes from 3rd or 5th to 4th always cause it. You can also feel it when engaging the clutch even with no load on it.

I will take it in to a dealer to be looked at next week before it drives me bonkers.

I get this in 6th gear when im sitting at 50 and put my foot down. Car almost jidders and as you say it doesnt feel good at all. Never had this issue in my a3

I wouldn't put my foot down in 6th at 50mph (around 1450 revs) and expect the car to respond normally (in the higher gears at least), especially pushing on with the extra torque of the DTUK box - change down and keep the revs at above 1900 rpm so that the turbo is spining nicely. Labouring the engine may well cause buffering, especially beyond stock power.
