Any car speaker recommendations
« on: 03 May 2014, 16:12 »
My front car speakers are blown, so I'm in need of some new ones, I've had a search around online and apparently pioneer are a good brand for car speakers. Has anyone got suggestions on what speakers I should get / best sound quality for money?

Price range - up to £80

Cheers, Mo

Standard ones have been perfect for me if you set up an aftermarket head unit correctly.

Helps to have a sub too

Ha, I would be fine with keeping the originals in, it's just the fact that they vibrate like mad when there is the littlest amount of bass in a song.

Also, I haven't heard to many good things about Sony, apparently they've gone downhill a bit

Eally you should have it set up so only mid and high goes through the door speakers. Leave the bass for the sub. Just set up wrong if its like that. And will not be massively different with better speakers

I don't have a sub and the standard speakers are plenty bassy enough if you have a decent headunit

It isn't a bass'y set up that is the problem, the speakers can't handle any bass, they just make a vibrating noise (pretty sure they are both blown), so they need to be replaced either way.

If they have been abused then the voice coil would have ripped the speaker..

Usually they are paper in a lot of cars so presume these are too. Will sound like flicking paper vibrating noise instead of bass if thats the case

Any aftermarket ones would be stronger than standard but might not sound noticably different

i agree with this, mine are standard speakers but with a pioneer headunit i get a pretty decent sound, if id upgrade id maybe try get hold of some of the bose speakers from audi's? probably expensive

I think that's about right, there is definitely something wrong somewhere
