Top Bloke! Thanks for that, so tweaking the shopping list a little looks like I'd spend roughly 1500to2000 in getting it there so overall not bad considering. Best get saving!

Think an LSD gearbox will cost around £1200 for the diff, bolts and bearing second hand gearbox and install.

out of interest, if i were to source a anni gearbox then would that make any difference? wouldnt mind the 6th gear for cruising

From what I recall the 6 speed as used in the anniversary are shorter ratio, even shorter than those used in the later 02j fitted to 1.8t and that the 5th gear on most 02j are about as tall as the 6th on the 02m. If you do go for an 02m be sure you order the right diff.

You could swap out some gears during the build for ratios that better suit your driving style.

6 speed would require many more parts also, new clutch, flywheel, starter motor, driveshafts, salve cylinder,  hydraulic lines, all sorts.

I'd suggest that getting a mk4 from 150-300bhp is likely to cost you a lot more than £2000 to do it properly.

The diff install alone will be around £1000+, then the same again for forged rods if you actually expect it to last any time at all. Another £1k on the turbo, actuator, turbo intake pipe to suit, and required manifold porting. And you're at £3k already before you've bought a downpipe, cat back exhaust system, MAF, injectors, FMIC, or most importantly a decent custom map! Not to mention a decent clutch and flywheel required to hold it all together.

I'm nto saying for one minute don't do it, a 300bhp mk4 is great fun, especially if it handles well already. Just be aware of teh true costs to get to where you want to be. at £200 per month it'll take you almost 2 years saving to do it all!

just some food for thought (baring in mind that i already have some stuff done to my car so you may need other bits) but this is what iv been offered...

brand new turbo & actuator (k03 with audi tt internals)
bigger injectors
vr6 maf
new supersized tip
Map

should see me to 280ish bhp (however im proberbly going to take it to 250 bhp untill i get rods then up it further)

total cost is around £1200 ish

as i say i already have mods done so this should be all i require. only thing thats liable to go would be clutch and rods, which as i said ill dial down the power untill i get forged rods and the clutch, well if that goes so be it ill replace it when it starts to go...
