1.8t AUM help!!
« on: 27 April 2014, 21:28 »
My EML came on just before Christmas, after reading the codes it came up with bank 1 sensor 1 too rich, after looking on here and afew other places I changed both lambda sensors, reset the codes and after a few miles came back on with the same fault code along with pressure loss between turbo and throttle, so after more looking on here I cleaned the throttle body and the sensor just after the throttle body, while doing that noticed the crank case breather pipes were split and leaking crap everywhere, replaced them along with most of the vac pipes under the inlet manifold, reset the codes as thought that was more than likely why it was throwing up the codes, after starting the engine it was miss firing pretty bad and idling at almost 1600rpm, coil packs and plugs were replaced 6/7 months ago with gen VW ones.
After having a little look noticed the coil pack wiring was totally f**ked, so ordered a replacement loom from awesome gti along with a set of forge boost hoses and a ths pancake pipe replacement.

Fitting my replacement loom the other weekend and that sorted my misfiring and the high idle out so go on and replaced my boost hoses and pancake pipe this weekend, reset the ecu to clear the EML light and it's back on

Every time I've scanned the ecu when the EML has come on I get really random codes that once I clear they don't come back, could my problem be a ECU problem rather than a actually mech problem, car drives fine other than being sluggish when the EML is on

Is there anyone is Sussex, Kent or Surrey with vagcom who wouldn't mind having a look to see if they can find aunt hint, don't mind travelling and paying for your time, I'm just getting fed up now or does anyone have any suggestions??

Many thanks in advance for any help

have you removed the intercooler and cleaned it out of any oil it may have? I would also check the MAP sensor in the intercooler and Use some eletronic contact cleaner on your maf.

the 17705 code was know for being a "ghost code" on the AUM. you can sort it by having it mapped out.
