What to get after a mk6…
« on: 26 April 2014, 22:06 »
Been thinking about selling our Gti but when I look at the mk7 it's no where near as nice looking as a mk6. The difference in price I can't see why I would pay about £12000 for it, but the mk7 r is tempting… anyone upgraded to a mk7 r ?

Personally, I cant justify buying new at every new model interval. I like the 7 for its platform etc, but I still prefer the cosmetics of my 6 (albeit I am biased). So I may wait for a later 7 R or see how the GiT8 fares....

Got a mk7 R via a mk7 GTI, i honestly still miss my mk6 GTI but the R is without doubt a huge step up from the mk6 GTI as you would expect, i think you need to try the mk7 and make your own mind up if it's worth the cost to yourself? I keep looking at used Aston Martin Vantage V8's and thinking i could've had one for the price of my Golf!! ::)

For me it will probably just be another, newer Mk6. Can't abide the looks of the Mk7.

I'll be going for a mk7 R next year but agree that the mk6 is much better looking.  Apart from the fact that I've had a long time desire for an R, I really can't stand the red stripe through the lights on the gti and it still hasn't grown on me.

Almost didn't get the mk6 as was going to wait for the 7 gti but glad I got it and now happy to wait a bit for the mk7 R.  Also I prefer not the buy the first of a new model as I like to see what the teething issues are once it's been out for a year or so.
