« on: 25 April 2014, 21:51 »
A wee trip up to Inverness a few weeks ago, ended up going down to Loch Ness and had a blast on the B class roads....
The Gti handled great on the roads and the weather was nice aswell which made the drive very enjoyable

Have attached a few pic's......just a pit stop to see if we could spot Nessie...

Looks great   I'm going there in a couple of weeks and very tempted to drive over to the Isle of Skye, any other great places to drive too near by?

The road over to Oban is a nice road, and the run down to Fort William. But if you go to Inverness go over the kessock bridge towards the Black Isle then your into wide open roads. Then the other direction back down the A9 from Inverness towards Aviemore you have all the ski resorts near by and also a good road to go for a drive up amonst the cairngorms Mountain range

All pending on a nice day though

Stunning backdrop. I took a Caterham round Loch Lomond a couple of Years ago and it was great. One suggestion though, loose the dealer sticker in ya back window

The roads up to Loch Ness are fantastic and the scenery is just stunning. I try to go up North at least once a year and tend to go through Glencoe past Fort William and Fort Augustus and then up to Loch Ness. Stayed in a small place called Drumnadrochit a few times which is half way up the Loch.

Another great drive is up to Mallaig past Glenfinnan. The road there is brilliant, full of nice long straights and some twisty corners. Finally if your coming back down to Loch Lomond then go through Inverary and over the rest and be thankful, again absolutely stunning.

I know I should make an effort to get up more but unfortunately work commitments and other things tend to get in the way  . It is brilliant up there and would recommend it to anyone whose thinking of visiting Scotland.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing.

We drove from Cheshire to the Isle of Skye a couple of years ago (not I a GTI I hasten to add). Took 11 hours  Incredible scenery north of Glasgow. Wonderful trip. Isle of Skye surpassed expectations. Lovely place to stay if you enjoy walking and wilderness.

I'm staying in Tomintoul so I know the roads around there very well. Never been to Fort William so might try to go there.
