Clutch peddle
« on: 24 April 2014, 18:16 »
Hi guys,

I was driving along the other day and when I changed gear I heard and felt a crunch and the peddle stayed down.  I couple of plastic bits fell to the mat and I was stuck in third!

Managed to pull over and raise the peddle and somehow got it in to gear again and drove home.  I was only about half a mile away luckily.

What has gone wrong here and what do I need to replace/fix?  Can I do it myself or should the young lad next door who works for Kwik Fit be able to sort it for me?

Thanks,
Ross

Had the same thing happen but the pedal broke completely.
Was Abel to fix it myself (with a new pedal) but like what gm8 said you will be swearing a but and complaining if back ake after :-). I used a lot go cable ties to hold the spring in the compressed state. Something which I strongly sagest doing before taking it to bits :-).

I was lazy and got the garage to fix it. Only cost me £70 with the new pedal and clips. Think I might be close to getting a regulars discount.
I thought Volkswagens were supposed to be reliable?

Sorry I meant pedal of course!

Anyway I bought a new pedal on ebay for £40 delivered and my neighbour who is a bit handy fitted it for me!  Awesomes.  A garage quoted me a few hundred quid!
