Have you had a look to see how much new cats cost? You realise that there are two as well don't you?

Looks good though, I'd personally only get a 3dr R32 but you've picked the right colour and I'm guessing it's been well looked after :afro:

I honestly haven't no. however, after speaking with the people that currently own it, it is there ex-demo car so alot of money has been spent onit, infact they have a build on there website showing all the work that has been done on the car in the two years they have had it.

The cat issue is a code that keeps popping up every now and again this is a quote from there build.

"So with VCDS set up, I began the diagnostic procedures available to pin down the cause of the the very intermittent engine management light. All the lambda sensor tests were passed, the MAF peak flow is pretty spot on. Only test that doesn't seem to spec is catalyst efficiency on Bank 1. Bank 2 is shown above and field 3 is 0.00, on bank 1 this is around 0.60 which is outside 0.5 or lower spec. I suspect driving with a dead coil pack has caused the damage although car drives fine and may well pass MOT. Removing cats altogether is a popular mod to liberate power but not strictly legal and might be too noisy."

The cats themselves are pretty expensive, but by the sounds of it it's only intermittent suggesting that the emissions are borderline. I reckon it'll be ok, if not it's an excuse to decat

This is the ad for it, now can see why I want it :)

"2003 model year Mk4 Golf 3.2 R32 4motion, BFH coded 240 bhp petrol engine and 6 speed manual gearbox. Deep Blue Pearl Effect bodywork with extra cost option black leather Konig sports interior. Built at Bratislava plant and supplied by Pentraeth Ltd, Anglesey on 10/9/03 to a policeman. 5 owners plus our own project car since June 2013 (registered to us since August 2013 when number plate was changed, original CX53 VFV). We took it in part exchange against a very good 2001 Audi RS4 Avant which we sold to a teacher from north Nottinghamshire. He'd had the car from 12/11/2010 having purchased it from performance car specialist Redline in Harrogate. Not long after purchase, the engine management light illuminated due to timing chain wear and after a tussle chain replacement was performed under warranty in Jan 2011 at 64873 miles. In June 2011 at 66384 the clutch was replaced. These 2 jobs totalled around £2200 and could be due soon on any R32 currently for sale that hasn't already had this work. 4th owner was a gentleman from Leeds from 15/2/07.
80500 miles with a full service history in original service book supported by numerous receipts and old MOTs filed in binder including 3 oil changes in the last 3 months, one of which will be on TV. Serviced at 20139 (25/7/05), 34697 (16/11/06), 44411 (27/5/08), 55152 (24/8/09), 63379 (8/11/10), 68303 (25/10/11), 72462 (22/10/12). 81100 (30/1/14) A space in the service book has been left for an earlier first service but hasn't been filled in, in 2013 we have replaced spark plugs, air filter (ITG), pollen filter, fuel filter, oil and filter (twice, 1 of which will be on TV), front wishbones and ball joints, strut top mount rubbers and bearings, rear brake discs and pads, water pump, coolant, brake fluid, a brake caliper, both outer CV boots, nearside front wheel bearing/wheel bearing housing/track rod end, performed a Haldex oil and filter change. Only original quality or genuine VW parts used. MOT to October 2014. The catalytic converter is a bit tired and regularly logs an efficiency fault code which can put the engine management light on but it passed the MOT with no issues - we will clear the fault code for free during the buyer's ownership period, I carry an iOBD Bluetooth diagnostic device and clear the fault code with my smart phone.
Supplied with complete R32 branded owners manual pack. Original R32 floor mats in good condition. Spare key. Volkswizard branded number plates, solid aluminium billet R32 key fob, genuine VW headlamp protectors.
NO ROAD TAX SUPPLIED. Road tax rate of £154.00 for 6 months, £280 for 12 months. Co2 emissions of 276 g/km.
The standard interior on an R32 contained no leather - it was grey cloth seat centres and black leatherette bolsters, black leather as seen here was an extra cost option as was the very useful cruise control. Standard specification includes Climatronic climate control, xenon gas discharge headlamps with self levelling and wash functions, 18" 'Aristo' alloy wheels, brushed aluminium dash and door inserts, heated seats. We have fitted X-Car Link Ipod and Bluetooth modules. Luggage net included. The images below show an Audi TT spacesaver spare wheel which is included along with the standard R32 tool kit and tyre foam pack.
Performance modifications are as follows; Milltek resonated (the less noisy one) stainless steel exhaust fitted in 2008. ITG panel filter, DSG air intake trumpet fitted by us. We were unsure as to whether this R32 had been remapped so had this work performed by JKM Performance in October 2013 using a Revo map with a view to reducing the infamous jerky throttle but also to increase the rev limit to 7200 from the standard 6500.
In early July 2013 I took the car to GTI International with a view to sprinting it but decided not to due to wheel bearing noise, soon after with a new bearing I gave the car a shakedown at the VW Audi track day at Castle Combe and in late August it effortlessly whisked me to the Nurburgring, Rallye Deutschland and the Belgian Grand Prix, an epic road trip which was featured in the October 2013 VW Driver magazine. In late September 2013, I was asked by Fifth Gear to bring the car to Millbrook Proving Ground for Vicki Butler-Henderson to drive for an episode to be broadcast in early 2014, she very kindly signed the sun visor for posterity. October 2013 saw another visit to Castle Combe for Audi Driver International and a few laps of Curborough Sprint circuit which were repeated in early November and on Boxing Day.
The price is higher than average for an R32 at this mileage but this R32 is not average - we have finally had the wheels refurbished and also had the small amount of peeling lacquer on the nearside wing dealt with by Sprint Auto Services to make the car free of any significant cosmetic defects. In January 2014 all 4 tyres were replaced with Goodyear Eagle F1s - all this recent work adds up to £1000 and you are still getting an R32 with recently replaced clutch and chains - even at this price I doubt there will be any profit in this car. Genuinely sad to see it go as I have enjoyed every drive and it does everything I need from a car - sure it's not that great on fuel but can be coaxed up to 35mpg on a steady run and unlike other cars, it holds its value well so you may find that the total cost of TDI ownership is higher especially if you don't do over 10000 miles per year.
