All mk4 r32s fall into that tax bracket, some of the very early mk5s do as well. It changed in early 2006.

After playing with my mate's 3.2tt the r32 is pretty comparible to a mapped 1.8t, it's quicker off the line but slower between about 30-80 and gains again top end.

The r32 is a much better all rounder though, handling is in a different league to a 1.8t and the exhaust note 

our blue 1.8t will prob handle better than most r32s but will never sound as good

my old red 4mo left a few standard r32s mk4 and 5s an for this reason i cant see me ever going for the r32

i think the only time i would now buy an R32 is to say that i owned one, but it is entirely down to Nino really, if you can afford the repayments and happy to let go of the hard work you've put into the 1.8t then i say why not, it really would stop the modifying aspect i think other than adding in a few choice mods perhaps

as said i was saving for one, then the mk5 came out, then the mk6 and before i knew it i had enough for a house with a bit of help from the old man of course but that was negligibly

however i can now start saving again for a R32 and see where the savings take me, i might just hog out on the 1.8t and stick a K400 with supporting mods, yeah theres no value to anyone else, but it will have value to me and ive always said mine will die on the road or die of old age

I know alot of you are thinking why not just keep modding mine, it will be faster than the r32, but for me it ant about have the faster car, thats not what i am about. Its about owning a car that holds value heck what upsets me the most the the work that my car has seen its prob better than alot of the 1.8t's you will find these days yet to make any money im going to be forced to breaking it. And id much rather sell it as it stands but id want around 3.5-4k and i know people will laugh at that price.

An R32 will hold value and its in my eyes an iconnic car. My dad once owned an escort cosworth what i remember of him and i have always said that one day ill get one to honor him. But now they are 16-30k and id never afford that. I see the R32 in that league and alittle bit of me would be statisfied that at least i owned at least 1 iconnic car even if it does put me in debt for 5 years.
