Non metallic would be a b@sta@rd to keep swirl free. Are you thinking of ordering it?

Deep Black Pearl every time if you must have black (because you don't mind cleaning it every other day).
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

^^^
My mate recently got his non metallic black mk7 GTD and it's already showing more swirls than my 20 month old Deep Black Pearl mk6.  Parked side by side the DBP walks it over the non met black.  He was too tight to pay out for the metallic paint, more fool him

Whichever black you go for, you've gotta like cleaning them.

If you go to a dealer they have some actual paint samples to look at compare side by side.

Regular black definitely shows up fingerprints a lot ( they are kept indoors afterall), the pearl effect tends to mask them a bit. To me, the normal black looked like it would show up dirt, chips or other imperfections like a sore thumb...

My last 2 Audi A3 were Metallic Black and then the Plain Black.

The metallic black was more sturdy but would look quite dusty very quickly and lose its sparkle. Though when cleaned and the light hits it right it looked amazing.

But as the dusty look was irritating and wanted extra £ for other options I went for the plain black next time out and can vouch heavily to those stating that swirls are a real annoyance. To add bird mess really stood out and it also would look quite dirty very quickly. BUT if you cleaned often, again it does look amazing.

I love black as a colour particularly the metallic but the maintenance to keep looking amazing was too much for me.

So this time out I have gone for the Pure White as a close winner over the CSG.

The white though obviously does get dirty still does not lose the overall effect in way black did. It also does not have swirls as an issue and birds mess is not something that instantly stands out.

From cleaning the white today the only issue that will have to resolve at next thorough clean is the tar spots that do not just wash off.

But a quick 2 bucket wash and chamois and stand back a couple of paces and looks great.

You could always see the swirls on the black.

Black is a great colour and a clean one really stands out when see it, but be prepared to invest some time and effort in keeping it in the stand out way. If I was to go for black again it would be the metallic and would never have the plain black again due to the swirls.
