Stone chip advice needed!
« on: 17 April 2014, 21:42 »
Good evening everybody!

After travelling on the M1 for a few hours on Monday I noticed this fresh stone chip on my return!

I've got a few more peppering the front bumper that I can live with but this one is pretty nasty and needs sorting.
So, I'm looking for advice on how to fix it. Would this be something that my VW dealer could sort out or would it be better to get the repair carried out by a company such as 'ChipsAway'?

Chips Away, Sprint Finish etc, I use these guys for minor repairs, much cheaper than a bodyshop and have always done a top job.

Ouch! That's nasty! I'd get ya dealer to look at and while the bumpers off get it wrapped in clear 3m if you are doing high miles or if you think this is likely to happen again.

Where are you based?

I'm based near Derby.
Do you think this would be one for VW to take a look at?

If ya near derby then take it straight to chartwells on pride park. I'm in swad and wouldn't take my car anywhere else!

They look pretty decent looking at their website. What are they like on pricing?

Little bit pricey, but you get what you pay for! Seriously I wouldn't use anyone else.

Two chips on the bonnet that have appeared from absolute nowhere. Very noticeable with the car being black and to make it worse noticed a fair few swirl marks. What happens when you go with black I suppose. Unsure if I just take it to a detailer who will do everything or get someone to repair the chips and get it properly detailed in the summer.  Hmmmmm
